The first Azerbaijan-Romania University Forum will take place at the ADA University in Baku on May 24-25.
The event will be attended by rectors, vice-rectors and other representatives of ten leading Romanian universities, as well as by rectors, vice-rectors and representatives of the top universities in Azerbaijan. The Romanian delegation will be led by Mr. Gigel Parashciv, the Deputy Minister of Education of Romania.
Romania is willing to develop relations with Azerbaijan not only in the fields of politics and economy, but also in the spheres of culture and education, Ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan Dan Iancu said during a press conference dedicated to the forthcoming forum.
The Ambassador said that Azerbaijan and Romania intend to pay attention to the expansion of educational and cultural ties between the two countries.
Education quality in Romania is one of the highest in Europe, he said, especially noting the country’s educational potential in the oil and gas, as well as the medical sphere.
Mr. Iancu noted that Romanian universities offer a variety of educational programs, both in English and Romanian.
Universities attending from Romania offer undergraduate, postgraduate to doctoral degrees in areas of study that complement the educational needs of Azerbaijani students. The universities represented include:

On Wednesday May 24, representatives from the ministries of education and universities of Azerbaijan and Romania will participate in a forum to discuss the process of education reform, the restructuring of higher education to remain competitive in an international environment, and the challenges of adjusting to the needs and requirements of the labor market. The day will close with a students’ education fair, hosted by ADA University, where students can learn about the educational programs and study opportunities offered by the attending Romanian universities. Thursday, May 25 will be mainly dedicated to inter-university meetings between specific institutions of higher learning in Azerbaijan and Romania.
A number of inter-university agreements are expected to be signed between Azerbaijani and Romanian institutions, paving the way for increased cooperation in fields of research and increased opportunities for short and long-term faculty and student exchanges between universities.
The University Forum takes place shortly before the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and Azerbaijan, which will be celebrated on June 17th, 2017.
