The ancient heart of Baku, Icherisheher, encircled by its 12th-century fortress walls, has been transformed into a vibrant stage for Argentine culture. Here, amid its historic streets and squares, the El Calor en Baku festival brings together live tango orchestra performances, milongas, masterclasses, an international championship, Argentine folklore, gastronomy, cinema, and a variety  of open-air city events in one grand celebration.

The festival is dedicated to two significant dates: Argentine Flag Day (June 20) and Carlos Gardel Memorial Day (June 24).

Its goal is to become an annual cultural event welcoming the international tango community to Baku.

All festival venues are located within the historic heart of Baku — Icherisheher. The squares and courtyards of the Old City, the streets surrounding the Maiden Tower, and Gosha Gala Square became living stages for dance and music. Icherisheher is one of the few fully preserved medieval urban centers on the Caspian Sea, making it the perfect place where Argentine passion meets Eastern hospitality.

“El Calor en Baku is more than a festival. It is a meeting of two cultures: Argentine passion and the warm hospitality of Baku. Our goal is to make this celebration annual and beloved,” El Calor en Baku Organizing Committee says.

The festival is organized by Azerbaijan Dance Council (AzDC) and supported by the Embassy of Argentine in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, and the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration.
