The Embassy of India in Baku hosted a special Power Yoga Session at India House on June 27, marking the successful conclusion of its International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 celebrations. The event brought together leading journalists and prominent social media influencers from Azerbaijan, recognizing their valuable role in promoting cultural dialogue and strengthening the friendship between India and Azerbaijan.

The session was led by Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan, Abhay Kumar ,who guided participants through the Common Yoga Protocol. The programme included a carefully designed sequence of yoga postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation, offering a comprehensive introduction to Yoga’s physical, mental, and emotional benefits.

Ambassador Abhay Kumar expressed his appreciation to representatives of the media and the social media influencers for their continued support and extensive coverage of the Embassy’s cultural initiatives. He noted that their work helps introduce India’s rich cultural heritage to a broader audience while fostering greater understanding between the peoples of India and Azerbaijan.

Describing Yoga as one of India’s greatest contributions to the world, the Ambassador emphasized that its value extends well beyond physical exercise. He highlighted Yoga’s ability to promote mental well-being, emotional resilience, and inner balance. Drawing an insightful parallel between Yoga and the media, Ambassador Kumar remarked that just as Yoga unites the body, mind, and spirit, the media connects people, communities, and nations through the exchange of ideas and information. Both, he said, serve as powerful instruments for building bridges, encouraging dialogue, and promoting peace, mutual respect, and understanding.

The Ambassador also noted that the remarkable global participation in this year’s International Day of Yoga reflects the practice’s growing universal appeal. He expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic response to the Embassy’s Yoga initiatives in Azerbaijan, which continue to deepen cultural ties between the two countries.

Participants thanked the Embassy of India for providing an engaging and interactive opportunity to experience Yoga firsthand. They observed that Yoga continues to gain popularity in Azerbaijan thanks to its accessibility and relevance to people of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs. Many also emphasized its importance in promoting a healthy, balanced lifestyle and overall well-being.
