The 75th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day will be held on August 17. However, this year, the commemoration will be very different from previous years. At the age of 75, Indonesia is battling the COVID-19 pandemic which has also hit many countries in the world, Embassy of İndonesia in Baku reported.

This year, the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day, which is usually held at the State Palace in a festive way, will be carried out on a limited basis in order to fulfill health protocols. The ceremony will be attended only by the President (as the inspector of the ceremony), and the Vice President as well as ceremony officials, namely the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (as the reader of the proclamation text), the Minister of Religion (as a prayer reader), the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Chief of Indonesian National Police, while the other state officials and public will not participate at the ceremony. Meanwhile, the commemoration of the ceremony at other places will also be carried out simply or virtually.

During this 75th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day, Indonesia carries a different theme which has a deep meaning. The logo has been officially released in dominating red with the number “75” in white.

The logo of the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of İndonesian Independence Day is also inspired by the shield symbol in Garuda Pancasila emblem. In this logo, Indonesia is depicted as a country capable of strengthening its sovereignty and maintaining the unity and integrity of Indonesia.

In addition, this logo is also a symbol of equality and economic growth for the Indonesian people and the real progress in achieving the best results to all Indonesian people.

Meanwhile, the theme of the 17th August 2020 commemoration is ‘Onward Indonesia’. “Onward Indonesia” is described as a guide in the life of the nation and state. Among these include infrastructure development, human resource development and job creation.

Even though the Anniversary of 17 August 2020 is commemorated differently and simply, the spirit of independence must remain high and not lose its meaning.
