In a vibrant blend of heritage, hospitality, and hops, the Czech Embassy in Azerbaijan and premium beer importer Azerish hosted the 3rd Czech Beer Day in Baku — a refined celebration of culture, craftsmanship, and international camaraderie. Held in an open terrace of YABAN 61 Beer & Grill near Baku’s iconic National Flag Square, the event unfolded against a sweeping view of the Caspian Sea and the soaring Azerbaijani tricolor — a symbolic backdrop for an evening that honored both cultural diplomacy and fine taste.
As one of the official national events accompanying the World Minifootball Championship, the gathering drew dignitaries, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and discerning bon vivants. It also marked the grand opening of YABAN 61 Beer & Grill, the newest culinary address in town from the celebrated Yaban hospitality brand. The location, steps away from one of Baku’s most recognizable landmarks, adds another jewel to the city’s cosmopolitan crown.

A Taste of Czechia in the Heart of Baku
At the heart of the evening was Czech beer — a globally respected tradition with roots reaching back over a millennium. The Czech Republic, often referred to as the birthplace of lager, is the world’s undisputed leader in beer consumption per capita, and it proudly upholds an artisanal brewing culture. Guests were treated to tastings of Budvar, the legendary original from České Budějovice, and Pražačka, a classic example of the light, refreshing pilsners that define the Czech style. These brews are not only national treasures but also symbols of a way of life — where beer is savored slowly, often in the company of good friends, hearty meals, and spirited conversation.
Complementing the golden pours was a curated selection of traditional Czech fare, including rich goulash, crisp schnitzels, and rustic breads. The culinary journey concluded with trdelník, a cinnamon-sugar-coated pastry made on-site by Trdelnik Baku, offering guests a sweet and nostalgic finish to their experience.

Bridging Nations, Building Friendships
The evening’s opening remarks came from Milan Sedláček, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Azerbaijan; Vusal Sharifov, CEO of Azerish; Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of KOBIA (Small and Medium Business Development Agency); and Filip Juda, President of the World Minifootball Federation. Their speeches underscored the growing business synergies and cultural ties between the two nations, as well as the symbolic power of shared celebration — whether in the form of football or fine beer.
The Czech-Azerbaijani partnership has flourished over recent decades, grounded in mutual respect and a growing trade relationship. Czech companies have been active in Azerbaijan’s infrastructure and energy sectors, while cultural exchanges — such as film festivals, art exhibitions, and now beer celebrations — continue to deepen the people-to-people connection.

A Lifestyle Moment in the Making
More than a diplomatic gathering, the 3rd Czech Beer Day was a carefully curated lifestyle experience — where world-class beverages met world-class hospitality in a setting that was equal parts elegance and ease. It was a toast not only to the traditions of Czech brewing and Azerbaijani warmth, but to the power of culture to connect, delight, and inspire. As guests lingered over their glasses enjoying the gentle hum of live music in the air beneath the shimmering lights of Flag Square, one truth was undeniable: this was not just an event — it was a memory in the making.
